Nina and Lee tied the knot last month at the St. Therese Church of Deephaven, followed by a sunset reception at Bayview Event Center in Minnetonka. I met them at Nina’s parents home, where the couple was getting ready. We did a quick first look in the living room before heading to the church.
Nina just started a new job in social work and Lee just finished medical school and started his residency to become a surgeon. They actually had planned to get married next year, but then decided–why wait–let’s push the wedding up!
This was my first wedding at Bayview and it was simply a stunning, quintessentially Minnesotan setting to celebrate. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour and dinner in the tent, watching the sunset over Lake Minnetonka and toasting to the newlyweds.
The DJ had already announced that Nina and Lee would be doing their first dance any minute when I looked over the water and saw how quickly we were about to lose this gorgeous golden light. I try really hard to not insert myself too much on a wedding day, but I recognized that this was a once in a lifetime sunset for Nina and Lee and I wanted to make the most of it. I asked if they would mind delaying their first dance to spend 10 more minutes on photos with me and I’m so happy they obliged…it was totally worth it to get these portraits. They even did a little slow dance right there on the dock.
Congratulations, Nina and Lee–not only on your wedding and commitment to one another, but to the long list of incredible accomplishments I know you’re also celebrating this year!
