Family business

I had time off last week so before heading to Chicago for TheFix I stopped by Madison and picked up my sister.  She made an awesome roadtrip companion.  We only stayed one night in Chicago but managed to squeeze in some Bean, a visit to Dad’s office/warehouse and the requisite stop at Johnnie’s in Elmwood Park for an italian beef or six.  The last stop of the trip was to see Mom in Milwaukee and surprise my brother–although I don’t doubt that the joy on his face when I strolled into his bar that night was elicited mostly from the two italian beefs I brought him, and less so from the fact that I was actually standing there. Cha, they are that good.

Even though I spent most of my time driving up and down I-94, I somehow paid a visit to each person in my family, and got quality one on one time [ok Maggie was pretty much everywhere I was too].  I don’t think I’ve been able to do that before, and it was awesome.
