Some weddings change you. The love you witness between the couple and their families leaves you inspired to be a better wife, daughter, friend. To just be better. This was one of those weddings.
Keren and Dan were married last Sunday at Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI), a summer camp founded 60 years ag0 by Keren’s grandfather, Rabbi Schaalman. Guests spent the weekend at the camp, a sprawling 200 acres tucked next to Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Rabbi Schaalman performed the ceremony in front of 150 guests at a beautiful outdoor chapel on the grounds, under a custom-made chuppa. Keren and Dan put a lot of thought into making their wedding personal and unique–from the music played by friends during the ceremony, to the touching vows they wrote each other, this day was intimate and full of emotion. The Schaalman and the Jackson families were so gracious and loving. And I know how it was especially important to have Keren’s grandparents there, who coincidentally just celebrated their 71st anniversary. I spoke with Rabbi Schaalman as he watched Keren and Dan dance during the reception and he just beamed and told me, “Look at them, so full of life.”
Keren and Dan, it was such a joy to document your day and get to know your beautiful families. Congratulations.
